Spaces are limited, and applications are reviewed in order of receipt.

Our goal is to create a community of working studios and independent business spaces. We provide period monthly programming that includes events both indoor and out, exhibitons, gallery openings, food and entertainment at Arts in the Burg. We will also participate in all the local events to include: The National Cornbread Festival, South Pittsburg Block Parites, Brewfest and other seasonal events.

Artists may apply as individuals or in a shared space when avialalbe. Studios are developed to keep the artists monthly costs low and include basic electric, trash, common sink and restrooms and common wifi as well as a list of extremely valuable benefits shown below.

Leases are a 1-year commitment with possibility of renewal. Studio space is open to visual artists, makers and select independent business (Food and art district type). You must be over the age of 19.

All items MUST BE hand-crafted and art related. See contract for details. We encourage everyone to apply wheather you need space to get out of the house or want to pursue you career as an artist. If you are not an artist but would like to be included as an independent business, think about the type of business that fits in a typical art district environment… let’s talk.

Studio spaces are not free but they are easily affordable starting at $150/mo.

10 Reasons to lease a working studio space:

  1. Affordable – Less than you would pay for an antique booth space with a lot more benefit and quality. Also, when you sell a few of your works you’ve covered the cost of your studio space and likely gained a little profit in the process.
  2. Dedicated studio space with 24/7 artist access – A space committed entirely to your art experience. Be a part of a community of artists that will inspire you to create more often and expand your abilities.
  3. Space in the gallery – We will provide at least two spaces in our gallery to show your work. Our commission is low 25%. Most gallery take 40 to 50% of the sale. We’re here to support you.
  4. Social Media – When you provide your studio hours and photos of your work we will promote you on Facebook. We have good engagment.
  5. Event Space – Your booth space at any event we may schedule is FREE.  FREE use of our Festival Tent Setup for you to checkout/borrow when participating in our events or other events not associated with Arts in the Burg. We support your growth as a working artist.
  6. Exclusivity – There are only 5 working studios for our resident working artists. We may build more in the future but it’s not likely there will be more than 8. Get one while you can.
  7. National Cornbread Festival – The last full weekend in April brings 25,000 to 30,000 arts and craft festival goers to South Pittsburg over a 2-day weekend. Arts in the Burg studios are in the heart of the festival. We will host events that draw traffic through your studio during the festival. We also benefit from traffic at seasonal events and the annual city street dance.
  8. Teach – Teaching opportunities provides more money for you. WE CAN HELP YOU EARN FREE STUDIO SPACE BY TEACHING!
  9. Retail Traffic – Receive the benefit of Arts in the Burg marketing and public relations exposure to gain retails sales for you artwork. Sell your work at events and in open studio space, KEEP 100% of the revenue.
  10. Be a successful working artist – When you become an Arts in the Burg working studio artists art lovers visit your studio and you sell more art and opportunity!
